3rd Annual CHED:
Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Awareness
Attend a training through REACH CNY, or register to host a CHED at your location!
REACH CNY is preparing to conduct its 3rd Annual Community Health Education Days (CHED) in May 2011. In recognition of National Alcohol and Other Drug Affected Pregnancy Week, this year's focus is on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders. CHED provide an opportunity for organizations throughout our service area of Cayuga, Madison, Onondaga, and Oswego counties to educate their communities about a targeted health topic. Focusing on one important health topic will maximize impact, and make CHED a catalyst for greater awareness surrounding the issue of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders.
REACH CNY will host two trainings for Health and Human Service providers and interested community members, in Madison County on Thursday, May 26 at the Madison County Department of Health, and in Onondaga County on Tuesday, May 31 at REACH CNY. Details for these events and event fliers may be downloaded from the links above, or call REACH CNY at (315) 424-0009 for more information. Please call to register.
Your organization can help raise awareness about Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders by registering to host a CHED event in the month of May 2011. REACH CNY will have free event toolkits available for participating groups. Organizations that register to host an event by April 29, 2011 will be entered in a county-wide drawing to win $50 in program materials of their choice! CHED event suggestions include:
- Setting up a health education table
- Hosting a guest lecturer
- Conducting a health fair with resources
- Screening and discussing topical short films
The benefits of partnering with REACH CNY to host a CHED event include:
- Having your activity listed on the REACH CNY website
- Receiving free education materials
- Increasing exposure for your organization and its programs/services
- Promoting community-wide awareness of important Maternal and Child Health Issues
