Eat at Mom's is a friendly place to get breastfeeding information and support from experienced breastfeeding moms, nurse health-educators, and lactation consultants! We meet every 2nd and 4th Thursday from 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM, upstairs at WIC in downtown Syracuse, 375 W. Onondaga Street. IBCLC Exam Prep Course

REACH CNY, Inc. will offer a course designed to prepare candidates to take the 2010 IBCLC Exam, which will be offered July 26, 2010.

Instructor: The course will be taught by experienced instructor and breastfeeding clinician Anne Andrianos, RN, IBCLC, and additional guest presenters. Anne will customize the course to focus on the knowledge areas identified by the participants as those they wish to review.

Format and Class Schedule: The proposed format is one week day per month, 7.5 hours each class, for a total of 37.5 contact hours. The preliminary proposed schedule is:

1.      Thursday, January 28, 2010
2.      Thursday, February 25, 2010
3.      Wednesday, March 31, 2010 (5th Wednesday)
4.      Thursday April 29, 2010 (5th Thursday)
5.      Wednesday, May 26, 2010

REACH CNY will modify this schedule if needed to make it work for potential participants. Feedback from participants will be used to set the final course schedule before the first class to allow participants to plan ahead.

Location: Classes will be held at the REACH CNY Offices at 1010 James Street in Syracuse , 9 am - 5:00 pm, with a half hour break for lunch. If there is interest we will explore whether we can make videoconference participation available for those who not able to travel to Syracuse.

Cost: The course fee will be $350, with a 10% discount available for the second (or additional) participant from any one agency.   Each participant will need to buy or have access to the recommended text: Breastfeeding and Human Lactation, Fourth Edition by Jan Riordan and Karen Wambach. The text will be available for purchase at cost from REACH CNY, cost approximately $110.

Registration deadline: January 6, 2010. Purchase orders and checks accepted. Up to 18 registrants will be accepted, first come, first served. If fewer than 12 register, all funds will be refunded and the course will be postponed until the following year.

IBCLC Candidates should know: Monetary Investment for Lactation Consultant Certification (MILCC) makes available a limited number of scholarships to help those with limited resources to afford the IBCLC exam fee.
