Breastfeeding Professional and Peer Support

Breastfeeding Connections and coalitions

  • The CNY Breastfeeding Connection is a regional organization of Lactation Consultants, Nurses, Dietitians, La Leche League Leaders, Doulas, Professional Educators, Doctors, and Midwives committed to:
    • Promoting breastfeeding in the community.
    • Enabling the family to make an informed choice about feeding methods.
    • Protecting the breastfeeding family through the sharing  of accurate information.
    • Supporting the breastfeeding family with information and resources.
    • Providing  information and resources to health care providers who help new families in our community. 

The CNY Breastfeeding Connection holds business meetings on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 1:00 pm at REACH CNY, and offers quarterly evening educational meetings at 7:00 pm.   • The Cayuga County Breastfeeding Connection meets on a monthly basis at various sites in Cayuga County. Current projects of the Cayuga County Breastfeeding Connection include:
    • Developing a county-specific Breastfeeding Resouce Guide and Palm Card for families in Cayuga County
    • Providing medical providers with up-to-date evidence-based information about breastfeeding and maternal and child health
    • Recruiting Breastfeeding Friendly businesses in Cayuga County

  • The Madison County Breastfeeding Connection meets bi-monthly at various sites in Madison County. For more information about meeting times, locations, and current projects, please contact Cheryl Geiler
