Family Life Skills

Family Life Skills parenting classes help parents and caregivers acquire tools and learn strategies for successful parenting and positive family development.

Family Life Skills classes are ideal for all parents, including those seeking to fulfill a requirement for court.  This program assists parents in reducing conflict, building better communication, developing closer relationships with their children, reducing stress, and supporting better adjustment through difficult transition periods. 

Topics covered include

  • Stress management
  •  Anger management
  • Setting boundaries
  • Assertive communication
  • Proactive discipline
  • Building self-esteem
  • Stages of child development & growth

Program Details

The FLS curriculum is approximately 9-hours long.  We offer it in two formats:

  • In-person: 

           Three, 3-hour sessions: Tuesdays 9-noon at our offices.  One series each month except December. 

  • Virtual, by Zoom: 

         Day schedule:  Six 1.5-hour sessions delivered both Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 – 11:30 AM for three weeks.  Offered monthly.

         Evening schedule:  Three 2.5-hour sessions delivered on Wednesday evenings from 5:00 – 7:30 PM, over three weeks. Offered monthly. 


Cost: $280:     Many parents working with a court or referring agency can have this fee covered.
