Peer Leadership
Empowering Young People to Lead
The REACH CNY Peer Leadership Program gives young adults the opportunity to build leadership skills while making a meaningful impact in their community. Peer Leaders work alongside our Health Educators to support evidence-based reproductive health education, outreach events, and youth engagement throughout Central New York.
Through hands-on experience, Peer Leaders gain confidence in public speaking, communication, teamwork, and facilitation while helping create healthier communities for young people.
What Peer Leaders Do
Peer Leaders receive training and mentorship before participating in a variety of activities, including:
- Assisting with classroom programs and educational activities
- Supporting community outreach and tabling events
- Promoting health education through youth-friendly campaigns
- Helping develop educational resources and program materials
- Participating in leadership development and facilitation practice
Every Peer Leader is paired with experienced Health Educators who provide guidance, feedback, and opportunities to build new skills throughout the program.
Why Join?
The Peer Leadership Program is designed to help young people grow personally and professionally. Participants develop confidence, strengthen their communication skills, gain experience working with diverse groups, and build a foundation for future careers in public health, education, healthcare, social services, and other helping professions.
Who Can Participate?
The Peer Leadership Program is open to young people between the ages of 10 and 21 who are interested in developing leadership skills, supporting their peers, and making a positive impact in their community. No previous teaching or leadership experience is required. We provide the training, mentorship, and support needed to help every Peer Leader grow with confidence.
