Position Posting: Health Educator
Seeking Health Educators for inclusive, evidence-based, comprehensive sexual and reproductive health education and youth development programming serving youth ages 10-21 years in school, residential, and community-based settings. Other functions of the role include community and social media outreach, and other duties as assigned.
Candidate should have strong interpersonal skills and a desire to work with groups of young people in the Syracuse City and North Syracuse School Districts, and community settings in the City of Syracuse.
Strong candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in health education, public health, or a related field, experience working and presenting interactive activities with youth, virtual and in–person presentation skills, understanding of sexual and reproductive health information and services, and knowledge of the Syracuse community. Will consider equivalent work experience.

Who You Are:
· Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in health education, related field, or equivalent. Master’s Degree or CHES certification a plus.
· Comfortable facilitating discussions and teaching classes on reproductive health topics such as sexual health, reproductive anatomy, contraceptive methods, STD/STIs, and HIV/AIDS as well as other youth development/life skills preparation topics to people ages 10 to 21.
· Committed to personal and professional development, being aware of and utilizing current best practices.
· Understands the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the work, and is committed to personal growth, antiracism, social justice, and progress.
· Embraces cultural humility – is thoughtful and intentional about acknowledging and growing through personal bias.
· Experience working with diverse and marginalized populations.
· Comfort and/or experience working with LGBTQ+ populations, and using inclusive, gender-neutral language.
· Knowledge of or experience with priority populations, and challenges faced by the Syracuse community at large.
· Able to manage challenging situations during presentations (e.g. resistant or confrontational participants, abrupt changes of schedule due to fire drills, snow days, etc.).
· Creative and interested in trying new methods to engage priority populations.
· Computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and social media use. Ability to use a web-based database for reporting.
· Above average interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
· Strong organizational and time management skills.
· Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
· Willing to fully embrace the mission of the program.
Other Conditions of Employment:
· Office hours 9 AM to 5 PM with a half hour unpaid lunch break (37.5 hour work week), but varies to meet programming needs. Requires flexible hours, including occasional early morning or evening hours, with advance notice.
· Physical demands: Occasionally move and transport up to 50 pounds of materials to schools and other sites.
· Work environment: In office and at community sites (schools, outreach events etc.).
· Requires use of reliable personal transportation, and must be able to transport self to office, program sites, trainings, and other meetings.
Classification: Full-time, Non-Exempt
Valid NYS Driver's license and full-time access to a vehicle required. Bilingual language skills a plus. Full-time position with benefits.
Starting salary $22 per hour ($42,900 per year+, depending on experience.
